Green Flags in a Girl

Relationships are hard especially if you are a guy. Gone are the days when you could just get married without knowing the other person just because your parents chose her for you. When you go out there to find the perfect girl, what do you look for in your girl? Do you go past the smooth skin and a shy smile? Because that can be very misleading my friend, never judge a book by its cover or you might end up with something that you will regret for the rest of your life.

Men often choose their mates based on looks, fashion choices, physical appeal etc. But that’s not enough, in this day and era where men and women have become equal in society, it is difficult to find a common understanding in a relationship. So here are a few tips or green flags in women: -

1. Honesty  

“Finding honest people these days is like finding gold, so if you stumble upon it by chance, cherish it.”

They say honesty is the best policy, but when it comes to your girl, it should be the only policy. A relationship without honesty is like a house without foundation, which means its downfall is inevitable.

When you are in a relationship, make sure that your girl is honest with you and that you are honest with her, that is the only way that you can build a healthy relationship. Some people would exploit this by hiding some information altogether but remember, a lie by omission is still a lie!

2. Loyalty 

“All men are dogs. Take it as a compliment because loyalty is a trait only found in dogs these days.”

Loyalty means that you are committed to the person you are with, you do not look for opportunities or seek out a better partner. Loyalty is essential if you want your relationship to last. Now, this point is not for you if you are looking for something casual; if you want a future together, you better ensure that your girl is loyal to you.

 Loyalty is hard to find these days, so if your girl is loyal to you, she is a keeper.

3. Communication 

“Speaking one’s mind is just not the trend anymore.”

Now there are instances when you are honest, you are loyal yet you have frequent arguments, why is that? That, my friend, is because your relationship lacks effective communication.

Communication is the ultimate key to a relationship. If your girl can tell you what she needs from you and you can express your feelings to her in a manner that you both understand each other, then that is called effective communication. Unfortunately, in this generation, communication is one of the most common issues in relationships because either one or both are incapable of expressing themselves.

If you have that level of understanding with your girl, I hope you realise how rare that is.

4. Forgiveness

“Forgive and forget; we are only humans.”

We are all human beings, so it is likely that once in a while we will mess things up. If that happens, would you rather have a mate who would understand and forgive you in time, or would you have one throw pillows at you in a screaming match? You might find the pillow thing appealing now, but when those pillows turn into coffee mugs and vases, you will regret it.

No relationship would last for even a year if forgiveness were not a part of it, because nobody is perfect, but how you gain that forgiveness is also an important thing to think about. Is it through love and understanding or jewelry and gifts?

5. Compatibility 

“Opposites attract but...”

Compatibility is a crucial part of the relationship. When you sign up for spending such a significant amount of time with one girl, you have to ensure that you are compatible.

Suppose you go out for dinner twice a week, but can never agree on where to go because you have opposite choices, or you can never enjoy a movie together because of such dissimilar tastes. Watching television together is almost impossible.

These problems seem insignificant in the short run because you can sacrifice your happiness for your girl for some time, but in the long run, it leads to chaos. Nobody can do something they do not like for the rest of their lives.

So I would recommend a compatibility test with your girl if I were you.

6. Plans

“Plan now or pain later.”

Now after you make sure that your girl has all of the above green flags or maybe enough that you can envision a future with her, it’s time to ensure that you both have your plans in sync with each other.

We often avoid these sorts of conversations because they seem too heavy or serious and in this era of casual dating, who wants to talk about kids right? But if you are serious about your girl and can think of putting a ring on it, make sure that you both are on the same page about the things that come after that. Because once you do put a ring on it, it becomes complicated my man.

These are some of the basic qualities but we still do not give them enough importance sometimes because they are hard to find these days.
